Educating the Leaders of Tomorrow

Aawaaz is a movement dedicated to empowering young minds by addressing the gaps in traditional education models. We equip students with essential 21st-century skills through skill development, curriculum design, teacher training, and educational research. Our mission is to inspire creative thinking, build confidence, and provide opportunities for students to explore their potential. Whether it's through mastering debate, public speaking, creative writing, or theatre, we aim to foster holistic growth in future leaders. By extending learning beyond the classroom, we seek to cultivate the leaders of tomorrow who will drive positive change in their communities and beyond.

We envision to transform education into a more inclusive, holistic, and empowering experience for all students, particularly those from less privileged backgrounds. We aim to bridge the gap in educational opportunities by expanding access to skill training, mentorship, and innovative curricula. Through our three key wings—Education, Research, and Foundation—we work tirelessly to ensure that every student, regardless of their background, has the tools and resources to succeed. We envision a future where young people are equipped not only with knowledge but with the confidence and creativity to shape their own futures and impact the world around them.

Our Story

Founded in 2014, Aawaaz emerged from a commitment to creating accessible, quality learning spaces for all students, acknowledginng the fundamental necessity of education yet its deeply unequal distribution. Recognizing that traditional academic subjects weren’t equipping students with essential skills like Public Speaking and Critical Thinking, we began with two teachers and 20 students.

Today, we impact over 35,000 students across India, offering training in more than 13 skills. The Foundation was born from the belief that no student should be disadvantaged by their socio-economic background and we, at Aawaaz, believe in giving everyone their Aawaaz — a chance to be heard and to succeed, regardless of background.

Over the past decade, Aawaaz has grown from a humble beginning with just two teachers and a class of 20 students to a widespread presence in over 150 schools across five cities. Today, Aawaaz proudly trains more than 35,000 students in over 20 schools across India. Since 2020, Aawaaz has expanded its reach even further by collaborating with research and institutional partners worldwide.

What People Say About Us

Working with Aawaaz throughout the pandemic has been fulfilling and enriching. It has also been a lot about unlearning a lot of things I had previously known about classrooms, online classrooms and everyone in them- they’ve been brighter and warmer than I could ever imagine them to be! Everyday, every class, every activity that Aawaaz has undertaken has been about learning something new in a different way and growing with it and I’m grateful to have had so much to look forward to all this time!

Aawaaz Research Workshop

Working with Aawaaz has been a very fulfilling experience. Each child is capable of startling creativity and our first responsibility as facilitators is to enable them to believe in themselves, their abilities and their capacity to improve. I’m privileged to work in an environment that lets me learn more optimism, joy and patience each time I interact with my students. Working with everyone at Aawaaz through a year like 2020 has taught me that the world is always a little less daunting when we lend a hand and enable one another to grow.

The Aawaaz Mentorship Program has changed my life completely. If it was not for Aawaaz, I would not be as confident as I am today.

Prakriti

Aawaaz Mentee Mentorship Program

I’ve learned three lessons in my time here with Aawaaz. The first is that to be a good teacher, one always has to be open to learning. I learn from my environment, my fellow facilitators, my students, and my mistakes. Growing here, and involving myself in more projects has taught me my second lesson- to never underestimate our capacity to create change in places that we deem change to be necessary. But lastly and most importantly, working with my kids taught me that in a world that seems dreary, dark and dreadful, there is, in all actuality so, so much to work for, to hope for, and to fight for.
